3rd annual ‘’Alpaca speed festival 2015’’ was a blast – riders from Latvia & Lithuania gathered to race in on a super hot day with speed reaching 80km/h.
In quali junior Gustavs Zēgners surprised everyone by taking in the lead in first run. On second run series current leader Gustavs Gailītis managed to beat Zēgners time by 0,07sec. Luthuanian Rytis ‘’Godzilla’’ Stankevičius was 3rd with 0,14 sec behind Gailītis! They were fallowed by Kaspars Balamovskis, Toms Dreiblats and Ģirts Vārtiņš.
For ladies, Elīza Marija Gailīte was the fastest, for juniors it was Zēgners, but for Masters  – Vārtiņš. Fastes from the rookies of this fast course was Kristaps Ozols.
Unfortunately, Rolands Stepanovs fell after finish of his 2nd quali run and broke his arm – get well soon!

Second day was the day of the finals – in Masters, Edžus Konošonoks suprised everybody by taking his 2nd win in a row, fallowed by Vārtiņš and Artjoms Smirnovs.

In juniors last two race winner Emīls Ieviņš couldn’t fallow the speed of Zēgners – Zēgners won by a huge gap!
In ladies 18 year old Elīza Marija Gailīte won 2nd year in a row leaving previous race winner Lauma Stepanova and Elza Volonte behind.
In Open final heats Smirnovs got 10th & Artūrs Pavlovs grabbed 9th spot. In consolation round just my half lenght of a board Konošonoks won 5th place against Darius Stankevičius. They were fallowed by Mārtiņš Kivlinieks (7th) and Toms Dreiblats (8th).
In the big final already from the start Gailītis took the lead, closely fallowed by Zēgners, Balamovskis and ‘’Godzilla’’. While reaching the fastest part of the course they all were superclose, but sadly Rytis Stankevičius lost his balance and fell, leaving the podium for Latvians – Gailītis took another win, fallowed by biggest surprise of the weekend Zēgners and Balamovskis!

All good things come to an end. After series warm-up race in Lorupe, the first 3 races in Priekuļi, Rakši, Madona it was time for the last race of Latvian downhill longboarding series at the short & fast track next to recreation complex ‘’Rakši’’ at the event ‘’Alpacas 2nd chance 2014’’! Riders from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia took part in the race.

In ladies Elīza Marija Gailīte managed to finish a perfect season with another win (6th win in a row!). Elza Volonte took 2nd place and ended at 2nd place in series overall as well. 3rd was Anna Monika Gailīte – for her this was first downhill race since last June when she won ‘’Alpaca speed festival 2013’’!

In juniors Toms Dreiblats just by 30cm lost to Gustavs Zēgners and ended his 5 race winning streak in his last race in juniors. With this win Zēgners grabbed 2nd place in overall.

In masters Ģirts Vārtiņš got his 1st win of the year – adding 2nd place in Priekuļi and Madona was enough to become the series masters champion! Artjoms Smirnovs was 2nd in the race & 2nd in the series, but Ints Barkāns stayed in 3rd.

In Open group racing the favorite was qualification winner guest rider from Lithuania – Šarunas Rasalas. But the big intrigue was about who will become Latvian downhill longboarding series 2014 champion – will it be Gustavs Gailītis (1st in Priekuļi, missed Rakši race because of broken foot & got 1st in Madona) or Jānis Jirgens (5th in Priekuļi, 1st in Rakši, 9th in Madona) – the guy who would finish higher would have the series title!

In the final Šarunas was dominating from the start! Jānis managed to hold his 2nd place and win the series title for 2014! Gustavs after winning the series in 2012 and 2013 this time ended 3rd in the race and 2nd in the series, but 4th place in the race was enough for Kaspars Balamovskis to finally get 3rd spot overall! Interesting that Šarunas win was first time that rider from abroad took the Open group win Latvian downhill longboarding series since the beginning in 2012 ( so far Lithuanians Lukas Kirkilionis had three 2^nd places & Stepas Jonaitis one 2^nd place)!

That was the final race of Latvian downhill longboarding series 2014 powered by RIPOshop.lv! Thank you to all the riders – see you all next year!

Latvian downhill longboarding series 2014 last event is just around the corner! The last race ‘’Alpacas second chance 2014’’ will happen on 20-21 September next to recreation complex ‘’Rakši’’ (GPS coordinates – 57.275887 , 25.193367 ).

The course is less than a kilometer long, fast with top speed a bit over 80km/h (average speed 65km/h for fastest) – raw run

Riders will compete in 4 groups – juniors, ladies, Masters & OPEN.

On the first day we will have practice runs & qualification but on second more practice and head-to-head finals.

Entry fee is 30 EUR (juniors 20 EUR). If you register later than 16th September 23:59 + 10 EUR are added (you pay on the race place),

Racers can compete in just one day, but it won’t affect the entry fee!

As usual we are planning to rent a guest house for riders and their friends – bed will be 10 EUR per person (you must bring your own sleeping bag/pillow).

Don’t forget to register and see you in ‘’Rakši’’ – Alpacas are waiting 😉

Gustavs Gailītis, Jānis Jirgens, Oleg Ramanovich – top3 guys in the ranking! The champion will be the one who wins the last race (or finishes highest)!

Gustavs won the 1st race (Priekuļi), but felt in the finish and broke his foot. He wasn’t able to praticipate in the 2nd race, but came back and won 3rd one (Madona).

Jānis was 5th in Priekuļi, won Rakši, but made a big mistake in Madona –  he felt and finished just 9th losing 1st place in the ranking.

Oleg had a solid season (6th in Priekuļi, 3rd in Rakši, 5th in Madona), he also participated at ‘’Kozakov challenge 2014’’.

Theoretically there are 6 more guys that might win the series, but it won’t be easy! Also there are few fast names on the rider list who haven’t raced this year, so finals and fight for top10 in the series overall will be spectacular!
